Learn Your Way Around the Night Sky: Introduction to Amateur Astronomy Classes offered at Ritchie Observatory

 

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND WA — April 7, 2013: Taught by PhD Astronomer David Fong, BPAA Education Director, and Steve Ruhl, BPAA president, this introductory course breaks universe into manageable chunks. Includes astronomy lectures, working with telescopes, and learning about the night sky. Topics include the art of observing, solar system objects, constellations, star hopping, planets, nebulas, galaxies, strange sky phenomena, astrophotography, and computer programs.

 

Six sessions, 7-9 p.m. Thursdays beginning April 25th, final class May 30th. Minimum age 14. Open to the public. Sign up through the Bainbridge Island Metro Park and Recreation District www.biparks.org Course code 131860-01, phone (206) 842-2306. $59 includes all six sessions.
