MINUTES of
BOARD MEETING of APRIL 2, 2008
Time 19:32 -- Convened Meeting
Vice President Mike Browning, as presiding Officer, convened the Board Meeting at 19:32 on April 2, 2008.
Other Board members present were:
Russell M. Heglund, Secretary
Frank Schroer, Treasurer
Nels Johansen, Facilities Officer
BPAA Bylaws require five Board Members to be present to constitute a quorum, therefore a quorum was not present. No actions could be taken by the Board Members present.
No visitors were present.
Time 19:33 -- Previous Minutes
It was decided, by consensus, to postpone reading of minutes of Board meetings of Feb 6, 2008 and March 5, 2008.
Time 19:34 -- Treasurers Report
Frank Schroer reports: The property insurance premium was paid in March ($1158.00).

Time 19:35 -- Membership Report
Frank Schroer reports: Number of memberships is equivalent to last year's. Total for start of April equals 91 memberships. (see complete membership report attached)
Time 19:40 -- Secretary's Report
Russell Heglund reports: I have the forms to apply to the Chamber of Commerce, for a Booth at the 4th of July events in Winslow. Still needs to have a proof of non-profit status enclosed.
F. Shroer: I will take the forms and add "non-profit status" form, and send them in to the Chamber.
R. Heglund: I have had a expenses for the Stella Cam and the Telescope Class. Need about $18.00 compensation (gave to Treasurer)
R. Heglund: Harry and I will be meeting Monday April 14, with Sue Entress of the Arts and Humanities group on Bainbridge....to talk about possible grants to build the Sundial.
R. Heglund: I contacted a former Secretary of BPAA (Lecia Duke) who said she had some old files she would like to return to BPAA. I asked her to mail them to us.
R. Heglund: Rocky Nook, as represented by Marsee Henon, is sending us a new book called "Digital Astrophotograpy: A Guide to Capturing the Cosmos" for us to review for our Newsletter.
Time 19:45 -- Education Report
Postponed by consensus.

Time 19:46 -- Grants
M. Browining reports: No grants this month. Claire Bishop of the Birkenfeld Trust, sent list of questions (see attached). I will meet 2pm Saturday with Claire and give her a tour of the Observatory.
Time 20:00 -- Facilities Report
N. Johansen reports: The Sanican is here. Terry (of Park Dept) said they will cover the next three months (cost of Sanican rental) , then we have to take over. Their policy was changed to make special interest groups pay for sanicans. I estimate septic system drainfield installation could cost $30-50k.
