BOARD MEETING of NOVEMBER 7, 2012
Time 19:07 -- Convened Board Meeting
Steve Ruhl, as presiding Officer, convened the Board Meeting at 19:07 on Novemeber 7, 2012.
Other Board Members present: Absent Board Members were:
Russell M. Heglund, Secretary Frank Schroer, Treasurer
Nels Johansen, Facilities Officer Dave Fong, Education Officer
Malcolm Saunders, Chief Astronomer (Vice President position is vacant)
Vicki Saunders, Communications Officer
BPAA Bylaws require five Board Members be present to constitute a quorum, therefore a quorum was present.
No absentee votes were submitted.
Visitor: Frank Petrie, a member who has voluteered to do "tweeting" for the BPAA.
Time 19:09 -- Reading of October 9, 2012 Board Minutes
R. Heglund, Secretary, read minutes of October 9, 2012 Board Meeting.
S. Ruhl moved/V. Saunders seconded, that the Minutes be approved as corrected. Passed.
Time 19:14 -- President's Report
S. Ruhl reports: I have signed the new lease with the Parks Department. (original given to secretary for filing) It is good for another thirty-five years, and includes permission for placement of the Sundial.
R. Heglund, Secretary: I will make copies and place them in the Secretary File drawer (in the Library) with the original.
Time 19:18 -- Rotary Grant Proposal
S. Ruhl: I am continuing to work on it.
Time 19:28 -- Annual Report
S. Ruhl: I need a Vice President for the Annual Report. I am appointing Malcolm Saunders to the slate of Officers for Vice President.
Time 19:29 -- Treasurer's Report
S. Ruhl: There is no Treasurer's Report this month.
Time 19:30 -- Membership Report
S. Ruhl: There is no Membership Report this month.
Time 19:31 -- Secretary's Report
R. Heglund reports: No report.
Time 19:37 -- Facility Officer Report
N. Johansen reports: I am going to replace the Main Door locks. I will get a locksmith. The roof was leaking real bad last week.
Time 19:43 -- Chief Astronomer's Report
M. Saunders reports: I have not gotten hold of the STEM guy yet.
Time 19:49 -- Education Officer's Report
S. Ruhl reports: Dave Fong did two (Planetarium) shows last month. We had overflow crowds.....over 60 people combining total at both shows.
Time 19:51 -- Communications Officer's Report
V. Saunders reports: Cheth and I are getting together to do a (special) write-up for the 100th issue of the Newsletter. We could then hold a party to celebrate......probably at our house.
S. Ruhl: Probably do it (celebration party) in January or February.
Time 20:15 -- Fund Raising
S. Ruhl: I am going to wait to see if the Rotary Grant comes through (i.e. before starting any serious Fund Raising for the Sundial Project.)
Time 20:32 -- Adjournment
M. Saunders moved/N. Johansen seconded, that the Board Adjourn. Passed.
