BOARD MEETING of OCTOBER 9, 2012
Time 19:20 -- Convened Board Meeting
Steve Ruhl, as presiding Officer, convened the Board Meeting at 19:20 on October 9, 2012.
Other Board Members present:

Dave Fong, Education Officer
Vicki Saunders, Communications Officer
Malcolm Saunders, Chief Astronomer
Absent Board Members were:
Frank Schroer, Treasurer
Nels Johansen, Facilities Officer

BPAA Bylaws require five Board Members be present to constitute a quorum, therefore a quorum was present.
No absentee votes were submitted.
Time 19:22 -- Reading of July 5, 2012 Board Minutes
R. Heglund read minutes of July 5, 2012 Board Minutes.
S. Ruhl moved/V. Saunders seconded, that the minutes be approved as read. Passed.
Time 19:27 -- President's Report
S. Ruhl reports: We did envelope stuffing for "One Call For All". Next thing to support is a OCFA breakfast on thursday. I can't support, can one of you?
V. Saunders: Malcolm and I will cover it.
D. Fong: We should inform our members that they should donate to OCFA.
Time 19:32 -- Sundial and Lease Agreement
S. Ruhl reports: The Park has basically approved (the placement of the Sundial in the proposed new Lease Agreement).
Time 19:33 -- Rotary Grant Application
S. Ruhl reports: The Rotary Grant Application is due November 26, 2012. We have plenty of time ...... I will work on it.
Time 19:39 -- Treasurer's Report
S. Ruhl reports: We have a report of September 30, 2012
Time 19:43 -- Membership Report
S. Ruhl reports: Membership is up to 94 memberships as of October 7, 2012.
Time 19:44 -- Secretary's Report
R. Heglund: No Report.
Time 19:45 -- Chief Astronomer's Report
M. Saunders reports: I talked to the STEM guy, Gregg Moncada. Also, I gave a talk about the Observatory and Sundial to the Oatmeal Club on September 27.
The LXD75 mount was stolen from the person we loaned it to. It's worth about $375, according to Astromart (website).
A "Cave" 8 inch reflector was recently donated to the Observatory.
S. Ruhl: I like idea of making it into a dobsonian telescope.
Time 20:02 -- Membership Meetings
M. Saunders: Possibly that Optometrist, Dr. Kircher, could give his "night vision" talk again.
D. Fong: I could give a short talk at a Membership Meeting...which I think should be held on Saturdays.
Time 20:08 -- Education Report
S. Ruhl reports: I did last Planetarium Show.(in September)...we had about 45 people.
D. Fong: I did a (Planetarium) Show (in August) called "3 and a half Rovers". We had 85-90 people.
Time 20:15 -- Communications Officer Report
V. Saunders reports: I am going to meet someone who "tweets" ..... do you (Board Members) have any problem with that?
M. Saunders: I met him......he is an engineer.
D. Fong: I would like to meet him and know what he is going to "tweet" about.
V. Saunders: The 100th issue of our Newsletter is coming out ....next issue.
