Time 1914 – Reading of Previous Board Minutes
Minutes of the September 1, 2010 Board Meeting were read by R. Heglund, Secretary. N. Johansen moved/S. Ruhl seconded, to approve the minutes as read. Passed.
Time 1916 – President's Report
S. Ruhl reports: I was interviewed twice. Once by
Wendy Tweten for “What's Up” a Kitsap County newsweekly and by Kathryn True for a story about the Leonid Meteor Shower. We did two Planetarium shows.....the September show had about 40 people and the October show also had about 40 people. We had some break in the clouds last Saturday. Some Microsoft employees showed up (last Saturday) and asked about basics of observing. We should take that up in the future.

No report.

S. Ruhl moved/M. Saunders seconded, to accept the Treasurer's Report. Passed.

F. Schroer reports: We have five new members, for a net gain of two. We have 92 total memberships as of 10/6/2010.
Time 1928 – Vice President, Mike Browning, arrives at Board Meeting.
Time 1929 – New member contact
Vicki Saunders: I will contact new members, Hastings, Rosenberg, and Rowe.
N. Johansen: I will contact new member, D'Amore.
Time 1931 – Professor Fong
S. Ruhl: Dave Fong is no longer Astronomy Professor at Olympic College, due to budget cuts.
Time 1932 – Secretary's Report
R. Heglund reports: A member, Mrs. Berfield, has offered to loan us DVD's of a series of lectures from a course called Understanding the Universe by Professor Alex Filippenko of the University of California, Berkeley, to use in our programs. There are some 96 lectures to choose from.
Board Consensus: Let's accept her offer.
The Sun Lakes Star Party, put on by the Bremerton Astronomy group, is coming up. Jody and I are going.
The Solar Walk project needs to spend $48.00 for printing four planets on thick paper stock for display in the Observatory Meeting Room.
Board Consensus: OK to spend $48.00.
I would like to display the planet plaques in the meeting room, just below the Griffith Panel. That would involve moving the panel up higher. It is presently low enough, that people lean their chairs against it, so moving it up may be a good idea.
Time 1942 – Facilities Officer Report
N. Johansen: No report.
Time 1944 – Chief Astronomer's Report
M. Saunders: No report.
Time 1945 – Telescope Pads
Clifford Johansen reports: I am working with Roger Belau, Battle Point Parks Facilities. I started work on it ….have four holes in ground at top of the berm. Plan is to put the Sundial in the center, so my plan is to put pads 25 ft either side of the center. Two Pads are 10 ft in diameter, either side of centerline, the other two are 8 ft in diameter. Concrete will cost $350 for 4 yards. I need Board to cover cost of concrete. M. Saunders moved/S. Ruhl seconded, to approve expenditure of up to $400.00 to cover cost of concrete for telescope pads on berm. Passed.
Time 1955 --- Old Business
S. Ruhl: I have placed a roll of tickets (for Planetarium shows) downstairs.
Time 1956 – Roof Telescope Dome
S. Ruhl: I would like a new Dome.
R. Heglund: How about a surplus submarine sonar dome from PSNS?
J. Fogelman: The leaky Dome is interesting to me. I am a journeyman carpenter.
N. Johansen: Probably could replace with roll-off roof for about $30,000 (that's just for materials).
Time 2014 – Fund Raising
M.Browning: Thinking about events that BPAA could hold (that would make money). Maybe organize a run around....for New Years Day. I am open to other ideas. Let me know of some annual event ideas.
Time 2016 – Librarian Report
R. Heglund: I am building a deep shelf for the large format books. I want to set-up the metal storage cabinet in the northwest corner of the library.......probably reposition the shelves to accommodate it.
F. Schroer: I met with microsoft guys (visitors) on Saturday.......maybe get more content on the big screen in the foyer.
H. Colvin: Some problems with roll-off you need to be aware of. I still do cataclysmic variable observations.
Time 2043 – Adjournment
S. Ruhl moved/F. Schroer seconded, to adjourn the Board Meeting. Passed.
