Time 19:09 – President's Report

Steve Ruhl reports: We changed Vice President's this year (secretary note: Charles Higgins is the new Vice President, replacing Mike Browning). We created a new Board position (secretary note: the new Board position is Communications Officer......there are now eight Board positions). Planetarium Shows are having good turn-outs. About sixty people each show. David Fong and I put on a Regular Astronomy Class in the Spring, and an Advanced Astronomy Classes in the Fall. We are honoring Diane Colvin at the Annual Dinner this year. The Dinner will be held on Saturday, February 4th.

Time 19:11 – Treasurer's Report (see attached report)

S. Ruhl reports: As of December 31, 2011 our current assets were $22,687.13.

Time 19:14 – Membership Report (see attached report)

S. Ruhl reports: As of January 2, 2012 we have 78 total memberships.

Time 19:16 – Secretary's Report (see attached report)

R. Heglund reports: As secretary I take minutes of Board Meetings, monitor the Observatory phone messages, act as Librarian, and lead three projects. The projects are (1) Sundial Project, (2) Solar Walk Project, and (3) Entry Plaque Project. The Sundial Project has received a $1000.00 grant from the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation and we are working on a formal agreement with Parks to place the Sundial on the north berm. We have finished images for the Solar Walk....they will be placed in the Observatory for all to see. The Entry Plaque is complete and will be installed outside, near the main door.

Time 19:21 – Chief Astronomer's Report

M. Saunders reports: We have had a couple telescopes donated lately. Dave Janich has taken on (maintenance and loaning) the small telescopes. We need to do a better job of getting loaner telescopes out.

D. Fong: Maybe we should explain the benefits of membership during the Planetarium shows.

M. Saunders: It would be good to arrive a half hour early and demonstrate telescopes......talk-up memberships and benefits....etc....

Harry Colvin: What is the condition of the Dome? That was a big issue.

N. Johansen: We got the leaks fixed.

Time 19:32 – Communications Officer Report

V. Saunders reports: We did posters, newsletters, and plaques. I have someone helping me.

Time 19:34 – Education Officer Report

D. Fong reports: The donation of the plasma TV was a big improvement. I use it for lectures – it also allows us to give classes. The Astronomy Classes we (BPAA) put on are a unique type of class.....we have enthused students. We now have The City Dark movie (a award winning documentary movie). We are going to show it to the public.
