BOARD MEETING of APRIL 4, 2012
Time 19:12 -- Convened Meeting
Steve Ruhl, BPAA President, as presiding officer, convened the Board Meeting at 19:12 on April 4, 2012.

Nels Johansen, Facilities Officer
Vicki Saunders, Communications Officer
Malcolm Saunders, Chief Astronomer
Absent Board Members:
Frank Schroer, Treasurer
Dave Fong, Education Officer
BPAA Bylaws require five Board Members be present to constitute a quorum, therefore a quorum was present.
No absentee votes were submitted.
Time 19:13 -- Reading of March 7, 2012 Board Minutes
R. Heglund read minutes of March 7, 2012 Board Meeting.
S. Ruhl moved/M. Saunders seconded, to approve the minutes as read. Passed.
Time 19:19 -- President's Report
S. Ruhl reports: I have purchased 250 eclipse shades (for the BPAA).
Time 19:26 -- Vice President's Report
C. Higgins reports: I have not been able to sit down with Parks.
Time 19:34 -- Treasurer's Report
S. Ruhl reports: No report yet. Frank will probably issue report next week.
Time 19:35 -- Secretary's Report
R. Heglund reports: I have put together eight sundial kits as prototypes and drafted instructions for assembly. I will pass out to some people to put together and give me feedback.
V. Saunders: I would like one to put together.
R. Heglund: Here is a print-out of Sundial fundraising ideas put together by Dave Fong. (pass out list)
M. Saunders: Farmer's Market would be a good place to set-up sidewalk astronomy of sun.
Time 19:52 -- Facilities Officer Report
N. Johansen reports: I got rid of the White Box and Overhead Projector in the meeting room. I will be here tomorrow to put outside plaque up. I will wash the building.
The spider for the 16 inch string telescope has come in.
Time 19:54 -- Chief Astronomer's Report
M. Saunders reports: I am going to buy fittings for the seven-inch Questar Telescope so we can use it on a mount.
The 10 inch Solar Filter has some poc-marks, but still should work fine.
The 6 inch Shmidt/Newtonian has plates for mounting. It is on LXD75 mount now.
I am working on a new policy on loaners.
Time 20:00 -- Education Report
S. Ruhl reports: The Planetarium Show on Mars last month had about 60 people in attendance.
Time 20:01 -- Communication Officer Report
V. Saunders reports: I invited Dave Berfield to see installed outside plaque. Laminated signs (for sidewalk astronomy) could be clipped to (our) sandwich boards.
I need information to advertise the Introduction to Astronomy Class.
Time 20:13 -- Parks Family Day
S. Ruhl reports: I told Jeff (of Parks) that BPAA would be unable to participate (due to key members being gone during that period).
Time 20:16 -- Adjournment
